PEKAN: The royal town of Pekan has gained another landmark with the opening of a new four-star hotel, the Ancasa Royale Pekan.
UDA Holdings senior vice-president Syed Ahmad Nazri Syed Kamaruzaman said the RM100mil boutique hotel, currently in soft open stage, would be positioned as the ideal business hotel for the international market.
“Our target market are those in the automotive industry based in Pekan as the town is fast becoming an internationally-renown automotive hub,” he said during a meet-and-greet with members of the press here recently.
Syed Ahmad Nazri said the hotel would also serve as a mid-point for Singaporean tourists on their journey towards the other East coast states.
“We want to give our counterparts in Kuantan a good run for their money.
Being located half an hour from the main city is surely no problem for us to cater to tourists.
We have the facilities and can provide shuttles to Kuantan in the future,” he said.
Being located right by the bridge into Pekan town in Kampung Peramu here, guests could visit nearby places of interest such as the Sultan Abu Bakar Museum, the Silk Weaving Gallery or the Sultan Abu Bakar Palace, said Syed Ahmad.

The seven-storey hotel is equipped with restaurants, conference and banquet facilities, the largest of which had a total capacity for 800 persons.
State-of-the-art conferencing technology and an array of professional and efficient services are also provided in the Ancasa Royale Pekan’s ballroom, three function rooms and two seminar rooms, said Syed Ahmad.
“We have received positive feedback so far and we are ready to accept bookings for rooms and events,” he said, adding that they were targeting an occupancy rate of 60% in the initial stage.
Syed Ahmad said the hotel currently offered 133 rooms but it had the capacity to expand to 170 rooms in the future.
For now, he said the hotel was offering promotional room rates from RM290++ to RM550++ until the end of the year.
The Ancasa Royale Pekan is expected to have its official grand opening in September.
