SEVERAL locations along the North-South Expressway identified as congested during the festive seasons and school holidays are in the process of being upgraded.
A total of RM1.44bil will be spent to upgrade the stretches to ease traffic flow, said Deputy Works Minister Datuk Rosnah Rashid Shirlin.
This involves expanding the highway into four lanes along the 63.3km stretch between Rawang-Sungai Buloh, Shah Alam-Sungai Buloh, Bukit Lanjan-JalanDuta and the Nilai Utara-Seremban interchange.
She said construction works had already begun and the expansion of the NSE was expected to be fully completed by the end of next year.
“The Government has also approved the construction of the West Coast Expressway between Taiping and Banting. Works will begin in June 2014 and completion is expected within 60 months,” she said.
